A MESSAGE OF PEACE, MERCY, COMPASSION AND UNITY ON THE OCCASION OF MEELAD-UN-NABI –
COLOMBO : On this blessed and spiritually significant occasion of Meelad-un-Nabi ﷺ, I extend my heartfelt greetings and warmest wishes to all Muslims in Sri Lanka and throughout the world.
The remembrance of the birth of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is not merely an occasion to recall a historic moment. It is an invitation to renew our love for Rasulullah ﷺ, revive his noble Sunnah, and reflect upon the timeless values that he brought to humanity — mercy, compassion, justice, forgiveness, patience, humility and love.
Allah ﷻ describes His beloved Messenger ﷺ as:
وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِّلْعَالَمِينَ
“We have not sent you except as a mercy to the worlds.”
This profound message of Rahmah — Divine Mercy transcends boundaries of race, language, ethnicity and nationality. The life of Rasulullah ﷺ teaches us that true faith must manifest itself through kindness to others, fairness in our dealings, forgiveness in times of difficulty and compassion towards all of Allah’s creation.
At a time when our world is yearning for peace and understanding, the Seerah of our beloved Prophet ﷺ offers humanity a timeless path — from hatred to reconciliation, from division to unity, from intolerance to understanding, and from conflict to peace.
May this Meelad remind us that loving Rasulullah ﷺ means striving to live by his beautiful character.
Let us therefore make this blessed occasion an opportunity to strengthen brotherhood and sisterhood, family values, social responsibility, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence among all communities of our beloved motherland, Sri Lanka.
May our beautiful island continue to be blessed with peace, stability, prosperity and harmony, and may the bonds of friendship and understanding among its diverse communities grow ever stronger.
Let us pray for our children and youth — that Allah ﷻ may guide them towards knowledge, righteousness, compassion and service to humanity, and inspire them to become a generation that builds bridges rather than walls.
May Allah ﷻ bless our nation with righteous leadership, social harmony, economic prosperity and lasting peace.
May He grant strength and guidance to those who are suffering anywhere in the world, accept our prayers and good deeds, forgive our shortcomings, and fill our hearts with genuine love for His beloved Messenger Muhammad ﷺ.
May the Noor of Rasulullah ﷺ, the light of his noble character, and the fragrance of his blessed Sunnah illuminate our hearts, our homes, our communities and our nation.
On this blessed occasion of Meelad-un-Nabi ﷺ, may peace prevail in every heart, mercy enter every home, love unite every community, and may Sri Lanka move forward as one united and harmonious nation.
