We are commemorating the 74th Independence Day of our Motherland Sri Lanka, this year. We commemorate this Independence Day, while facing the challenges of Covid-19 and economic constrains which has been prevailing for the past 2 years.
Our forefathers strived beyond racial and religious differences to gain independence for our Motherland. Their sole aim was to make the country an economically, socially and politically prosperous country by gaining independence and to live as a united nation. Thus, every community were able to enjoy their rights and freedom, and gave their full contribution and cooperation towards the development of the country.
Although we gained independence from the British politically 74 years ago, we are still economically under-developed due to periodic challenges such as, ethnic riots, terrorist attacks and political divisions. We call upon religious leaders, community leaders, politicians, state authorities and all citizens to unite and build our country to overcome this situation by enriching ourselves spiritually, economically, socially and culturally.
On this occasion, the ACJU prays for the prevalence of unity among all communities and for the development and prosperity of our Motherland.
