COLOMBO :Members of the Maha Sangha and prominent artistes joined the public campaign at the Galle Face Green which is being held for the fifth consecutive day to urge the president and the government to step down due to mismanagement,
Venerable Omalpe Sobitha Thero who serves as a Chief Sanghanayake in the Sri Lanka Amarapura Sect joined the public protest underway at the Galle Face Green in Colombo against the President and the Government.
Venerable Omalpe Sobitha Thero arrived at the protest site Tuesday,April 12 along with a group of monks and showed their solidarity with the people of the country.
The Thero further urged the Government to implement the proposals put forth by the Mahanayake Theros.
The proposals of the Mahanayake Theros, include the appointment of a new Government and Prime Minister, among other demands.
The group of monks had handed over a petition with their demands to the Police officers deployed on security duty at the entrance of the Presidential Secretariat, as they were unable to enter the premises.
Meanwhile , a group of veteran singers, including Nanda Malini also joined the public protest at the Galle Face Green.
Another group of artistes led by actress Sangeetha Weeraratne also joined the public at the protest underway at the Galle Face Green. ( with inputs from NewsWire)
