COLOMBO: Saturday.March 19 was another ordeal for the consumers who waited in long queues for gas from 6 am and finally only 30 people got their requirements since the consignment contained only 30 LP gas cylinders
The cylinders were delivered by the gas agent to about 30 people who had brought large gas cylinders, as the gas company had supplied fewer gas cylinders to the agency station on Dam Street.
The non-recipient of gas, who were disappointed entered into verbal arguments and problems between those standing in line and many returned home with their empty cylinders in utter frustration.
Meanwhile, the minister of tourism had requested tconcernedned authorities to give priority for the supply of gas to the tourism sector since already some 3,000 tourists are in the island.
