COLOMBO: The All- Ceylon Bakery Owners Association announced here on Friday, January 7 that there will be a scarcity of bread in the coming days due to shortage of flour in the market.

President of the Bakery Owners Association, N.K.Jayawardena told newsmen here that according to the floor suppliers that there is not enough stock to cater to the bakers’ needs to make bread. ” There is a demand for the flour due to shortage of dollars in the market. According to the suppliers, Jayawardena said, the authorities pay only 10 percent of the value of dollars for the purchase of flour which is hardly sufficient to process the deal , Unless some action is taken, he said people wont get even a loaf of bread even if they stand in long queues.
