Let us learn to live together as brothers and sisters!

S.H.MOULANA

RIYADH

It is said that it is not in numbers but in unity that our great strength lies. This is what we saw in the recent past at the Galle Face Green.

I admired this crowd very much for two reasons, one for the unity among the communities and for not having any affiliation with any political parties. A politician’s only thought in mind is how to win the next election, let it be at any cost even by creating rifts among communities. This was quite evident during the last elections and the rubbish they unloaded for the gullible voters to win the elections which continued to create unrest between communities. Unfortunately, we have to live with these political parties and face the current disastrous situation, seeing no light at the end of the tunnel.

Martin Luther King Jr. said ‘We must learn to live together as brothers and sisters or perish together as fools.’ Let us not fall prey for these crooked politicians who do not care about us or the country. I am hopeful that the unity shown at the recent protests would have taught these crooked politicians a good lesson.
