Launch of Chance Helical Piling ,Guy Anchoring Systems by St Theresa Kenya Industries Ltd.

NAROBI: St.Theresa Industries Kenya Ltd launched CHANCE  Helical Piling Systems of Hubbell  Power Systems Inc, USA, at Hotel Radisson Blu Nairobi followed by a webinar for industry technocrats  on Wednesday 6th October 2021. The use of Helical Piles and Guy Anchor  structures is a first in Kenya and the East African Region. In Sri Lanka Chance Helical Piling Systems are being used for Ceylon Electricity Board electrification projects under EPC and in other construction projects in restricted terrains where soil conditions, access and concrete  foundation operations are a challenge.

Welcoming the guests for this ground breaking event in Nairobi, Sebastian Perera, Director, International Business Development  of St. Theresa Industries  Kenya Ltd, stated that  Chance Helical Piles and Guy Anchor systems are a cost effective alternative  to current practices of piling systems used over the world. They come custom built, factory pre-assembled or site assembled and conserves labour, material, equipment and time with minimum damage to the environment. According to him, the foundations and anchors are made of 90%  recycled material using environmentally conscious processes that make the most efficient  use of raw material and natural resources. He added that its a green alternative to concrete and has a reduced carbon footprint and is a sustainable alternative as it can be reused. According to him it reduces overall 20 to 30  percent of any piling costs. 

Joining online from Colombo, Madushanka Fernando, Group Chief Executive Officer of St Theresa Industries (Pvt) Ltd in Sri Lanka informed that the Kenya launch is part of introducing new technologies and that the company organized a webinar series  on Power & Energy sector driven solutions (5-8th October 2021) where new technological innovations are discussed  for these unprecedented times.

At the launch, Chief Guest Peter Mbugua, Chief Executive Officer  of  Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) for Kenya, and Guest of Honour Dr Peter Kimemia, Registered Consulting Engineer, Standards  Manager, Kenya Power Lighting Company (KPLC) stated that Kenya welcomes green and sustainable solutions that are cost effective. Dr Kimemia, requesting industry contractors  to embrace new technology informed that the piling and anchoring system can be considered not only for electrification systems but also for telcos and any type of construction of towers.

Garry L Seider, Engineering Manager, Civil & Utility Helical Products of Hubbell Power Systems Inc. explained in detail the importance of the use of the  product  in challenging soil conditions and the different uses and success stories including in the Amazon forest, Brazil.
