COLOMBO : Nimal Lanza, the founder of the new alliance, said here that the new alliance is moving forward with a good program to build the country.
These views were expressed by Nimal Lanza on Saturday,Feb. 24th while participating in the second public rally of the new alliance held at the Hyde Park grounds in Colombo.
Speaking further, Lanza said,
“First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to the people who have come here and giving their strength to the new alliance. These are the people who give a lot of strength to our program. This new alliance is not a place to make promises, it is a journey forward with a program. For 70 years, this country was destroyed because of a group of people who came to power with promises. When they took power after making promises, they had to borrow money to fulfill their promises. Otherwise they had to print money. There is no money to fulfill the promises. The country was destroyed due to borrowing and printing money. So, the main purpose of this new alliance is to tell the truth to the people. Speaking the truth and making people understand the reality, but not telling lies to them. From stage to stage, the Janata Vimukthi Peramuna says that if thieves are caught, the economy will rise. FCID was introduced in 2015 to catch thieves. But no thief caught. They are repeating the same again and again. But, Anura Kumara does not present a program.
On the other hand, the leader of SJB keeps on making promises. Does he have money to fulfill those promises? No. It is not possible to find money in any other way than presenting an economic program to build the economy of this country. Money cannot be plucked from trees. Can’t even create by magic. An economic program must definitely be made. When JVP brings an artist to the stage and sing a song, or when an actress come to the stage and tells a literary story, they think it’s a big deal. Recently, it is said on the stage that there are one hundred women and two hundred breasts. What is this nonsense? They say prostitution should be legalized, they say they should walk from Colombo to Galle showing their breasts. Do these work? What should happen is to present a program to rebuild the country.
What do SJB people say? They say they will give once they come. If there is, it will be given. You should give to those who deserve to give. It should not be given to the unworthy. It should be given to those who deserve it. If that happen, the country’s economy can be improved. The country cannot allow to fallen to the same pit again. We need to win over the people to our side by telling them the truth and the reality. Without that, the country cannot recover.
How to take the country forward is the main challenge of our alliance. In March, the biggest alliance will form in this country. I request all leftist and progressive people to rally around this alliance. We ask the SLFP, Podujana Peramuna and SJB Party members to rally around us. We are not making false political promises, we are presenting a proper program to the country.
We will form the largest alliance and bring hundreds of thousands of people to Colombo in the month of May and I challenge the Janata Vimukthi Peramuna and SJB to gather the people if possible. We’re just getting started. The first one was in Ja – Ela, the second one in Hyde Park, the third one in Hambantota, and the fourth one in Badulla. The fifth one in Monaragala.
Since May, mobilizing people in the 160 seats, we will rally a large number of people around the alliance. The economy cannot be built by boasting, fooling people, and giving false talks. You need to tell how to earn income. The cost reduction method should be mentioned.
People love to listen to Andre’s stories. But, did not try to make Andre the king. Andre does not reign. Kayyanayake (braggart) is like Andre. India should be saluted for taming the barking dogs. For 40 years, when the political leaders try to make good decisions, who disrupted all those things? Janata Vimukthi Peramuna. That Janata Vimukthi Peramuna is now coming after 40 years and saying that India has changed, so we should also change. It took 40 – 50 years for these people to accept what the then leaders said. It will take another 50 years or so for these people to accept what our leaders are saying now.
It is said on social media that Anura Kumara has international connections. After going to India, he did not speak a single word for 5 days. In the Ja – Ela meeting, I said that Anura Kumara can only say Yes / No. After going to India, I learned that he can’t even say No. He did not make any speech during the visit to India. There are only photos for the 5 days of the trip. India has turned off the recording. Because he does not know the language to speak. If the talk is made public here, the remaining votes will be lost. We have said since then that we should work with India. These are the people who said that we cannot work with India. They opposed Sampur, they opposed ETCA, they opposed the Indo-Lanka Accord. People were killed when they brought goods from India. They set on fire. There was such a past.
Now they come and say that it is okay to tender. It’s okay to give 50 – 50. How many people died because of opposition to Indian expansionism? But after 50 years, now they have understood that 50 – 50 is better. In another 50 years, they will understand that in order to bring the best entrepreneurs in the world to this country, we have to compete with other countries. Support should be given to bring that technology. Otherwise they will not come to Sri Lanka. There are other countries for them to choose from. These people don’t understand that. It will take another 50 years for them to understand those things.
JVP has no program. Kayyanayake has no program. Liars have no plan. Jokers can’t build countries. A program should be presented to build this country. Don’t get caught in false waves.
We are sending a message to the country that this alliance is moving forward with a program. We don’t lie. We tell people the truth. We make people understand the reality. Even if people bring another group without listening to us, it will last only three or six months. Keep it written that people will throw stones at them. There is a precedent for that.
Anura Kumara cannot come to power. That is why he does not present a proper program. If they come to power, they will present the program. They just want to protest every day, being the leader of the opposition. That’s why they don’t say a program. Sajith also wants the post of the opposition leader. Anura Kumara, Sajith Premadasa and Namal Rajapaksa are all competing for the leadership of the opposition. If these people want to take power, if they want to take the presidency, they have to present the program,” Lanza further added.
