Lankans in Australia donate the second oxygen air therapy airvo 2 to Kegalle Hospital

COLOMBO : Considering the rapid spread of Covid in Srilanka, and the need for hospitals for Airvo 2 Humidified Nasal High Flow Systems to prevent patient dying from hypoxic respiratory failures, the Melbourne United Art Circle Australia donated the life-saving equipment to the Kegalle Hospital here

Under the PRAANA SAVIYA. (Saving Liives) project in Melbourne the necessary funds for two Sirvo 2 units werr raised with the overwhelming support from the Melbournians.

The total cost of two units with all accessories was Rs 2,70,000.00 comes with two year warranty in Srilanka . The agent in Sri Lanka will install the units  in hospitals that were nominated by the donors.  Accordingly the units were delivered to

Unit 1. On 18/06/2021. was handed over to the Director Kurunagala Teaching Hospital Dr.Chandana Kandangamuwa and the Unit 2.  On 08/09/2021. To the Kegalle Teaching Hospital Director Dr. Y.J. Samarasinghe

The above two units were officially handed over to the respective  Directors by Sajith Premadasa MP and the leader of Opposition under his Vipakshayen Usmak program with many other most needed medical equipment.

Sajith Premadasa on both occasions specially thanked the Sri Lankan expatriates in Australia for their generous contributions towards this worthy projects.

Hemantha Kuluppuaracchi, convenor of this project told the Colombo Times that the funds were raised in just one week time during the lockdown period in Melbourne . They extremely thanked the kindhearted Lankans in Australia who did not hesitate in contributing to our request which enabled us to reach the target to purchase two airvo. Units. Hemantha said the achievement was due to  the untiring efforts by the project committee :

Further Hemantha also stated that shortly they will be donating some more medical equipment to Kattankudy Hospital .
