Lanka floods kill 16 persons and render more than 67,000 families displaced

COLOMBO : A total of 16 people died and three reported missing, while 270,912 people from 67,564 families across 10 districts were affected by the bad weather. the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) announced here on Sunday, May 6

 “People in the Gampaha, Ratnapura, Colombo, Puttalam, Kalutara, Nuwara Eliya, Kegalle, Galle, Kurunegala and Kandy districts have been affected by the rains, floods, landslides and winds,” the DMC said

There are 104 places in the island, where the government has provided accommodation for the flood victims. There is some 26,846 people from 6,176 families kept in these government refuge centers
