COLOMBO:Ambassador of Korea Santhush Woonjin Jeong hosted a welcoming luncheon to the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka-Republic of Korea Association at the Ambassador’s Residence.
Office Bearers of the Sri Lanka-Republic of Korea Association including President Dudley Edirisinghe, Immediate Past President Dr. Prasad Gunaratne along with Vice Patron and former Speaker of Sri Lanka Parliament Karu Jayasuriya graced the luncheon. Santhush Woonjin Jeong serves as Patron of the Sri Lanka-Republic of Korea Association.
During the luncheon, they had an engaging discussion to promote bilateral cooperation between the two countries. Ambassador Santhush appreciated the office bearers of the Sri Lanka-Republic of Korea Association led by Dudley Edirisinghe as President and the Immediate Past President Dr. Prasad Gunaratne. While thanking them for the key role they have played to take the mutual friendship to new heights, he also emphasised the importance of working together to resolve the present difficulties.

President Mr. Dudley Edirisinghe and Immediate past-President Dr. Prasad Gunaratne thanked the Korean Ambassador for hosting the luncheon and reiterated the significance of Korea-Sri Lanka relations on the advancement of economic development of Sri Lanka. In particular, Karu Jayasuriya appreciated the commitment and fullest cooperation extended by Korea to assist Sri Lanka and its people.
Office bearers of the Sri Lanka-Republic of Korea Association Dr. Hemantha Weerakoon, Mr. K. Ranawaka, Manoranjan Wijebahu, Ms. Aruni Dissanayake, and Priyantha Udugala and Secretary of the Korean Embassy Ms. Miyeon Lim also attended the luncheon.
The Korean Envoy as Patron of the Sri Lanka-Republic of Korea Association deeply appreciated the great efforts of Karu Jayasuriya to expand and develop Korea-Sri Lanka relations, serving as Vice-Patron for the Sri Lanka-Republic of Korea Association for more than 20 years in the past. Ambassador Santhush stated, “Thank you for your dedicated and longstanding contribution to strengthening Korea-Sri Lanka bilateral relations. Your active presence as Vice Patron of this prestigious Association will motivate friends of Korea and Sri Lanka to work harder to promote the mutual interests of the two countries.
