
COLOMBO : Korea donated Taekwondo equipment to the Police Headquarters on Thursday October 19.
This donation was one of the project grants funded by the Government of Korea, aimed at strengthening the training of police officers under the Official Development Assistance program.
The equipment provided by the Korean government included an IVR System, 2 Poomsae Scoring Systems, and 590 Taekwondo mattresses. These equipments will be instrumental in enhancing training and effectiveness of the Taekwondo unit within the Department of Police.
The hand-over ceremony was graced by the presence of the Ambassador H.E. Miyon Lee from the Korean Embassy in Sri Lanka and the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Chandana Wickramarathne, representing the Department of Police, along with other staff members.
During the ceremony, the Ambassador Lee expressed a commitment to continue Korea’s Official Development Assistance to Sri Lanka, further strengthening the diplomatic ties between the two nations.
The Inspector General of Police, Chandana Wickramarathne on behalf of the Department of Police expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Korean government and the people of of Korea for this invaluable contribution to the police force’s Taekwondo unit. This donation will represent a significant step in cooperation and support from the Republic of Korea to Sri Lanka.
