COLOMBO : A knowledge exchange and orientation programme was held for 20 High Court Judges from Sri Lanka at the Indian National Judicial Academy (NJA) in Bhopal, India, from 10–14 August 2026.
- The programme comprised nine thematic sessions focusing on judicial function and decision making; leadership and strategic thinking; integrity, ethics, and accountability in governance; use of technology in courts and digital transformation; court and case management; pre-trial procedures and plea agreements; commercial arbitration, mediation, and ADR mechanisms; cybercrime and electronic evidence; and managing judicial stress and wellness.
- The programme was designed based on the positive feedback received for the earlier cohort of 20 High Court Judges, who participated in a similar programme in December 2025.
- The programme was organized under the enhanced capacity building framework announced by Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, during his State Visit to Sri Lanka in April 2025, whereby 700 customized slots annually for Sri Lankan professionals. With 300 Sri Lanka civil service officers being trained annually under a Memorandum of Understanding between the National Centre for Good Governance of India, and the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration, the enhanced capacity-building endeavour of India thus now benefits 1000 Sri Lankans annually.
