Kids from Sri Lankan International School Riyadh donate in cash,kind to Ditwah disaster relief efforts in Sri Lanka

COLOMBO : Responding to the initiative of the Sri Lanka Embassy, the students and staff of the Sri Lankan International School in Riyadh (SLISR) donated SAR 30,000 (USD 8000) as well as essential relief items worth SAR 10,000 to support the Ditwah disaster relief efforts in Sri Lanka. SLISR students engaged enthusiastically in this campaign within the school, demonstrating their compassion and solidarity with the victims of this natural calamity. While many students contributed funds from their personal savings, others donated essential items for this humanitarian cause.

Students from Kindergarten to Advanced Level, representing various nationalities, came together with the School Principal and staff to hand over their contribution to Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ameer Ajwad, at the Embassy premises in Riyadh on 17.12.2025.

Accepting the valuable contribution from the school children and staff, Ambassador Ameer Ajwad expressed his sincere gratitude for this thoughtful and exemplary gesture by the young students of SLISR, reflecting the strong values of empathy and social responsibility nurtured within the school community. He further noted that this act of kindness illustrated how a school environment can serve as a powerful platform for fostering compassion and inspiring meaningful action in times of need. The Ambassador also extended his profound appreciation to the principal and staff of SLISR for guiding and encouraging students to become responsible citizens by engaging in such humanitarian initiatives.

The School Head Boy and Head Girl, along with multinational student representatives from Kindergarten to Advanced Level—symbolizing whole-school participation—handed over the donations. Their involvement underscored a shared commitment to humanity and compassion that transcends borders.

In recognition of their collective act of generosity, Ambassador Ameer Ajwad presented a memento titled “Kindness Ambassador” to the students who contributed to this worthy cause.

During the handing-over event, Minister/HoC Mohamed Anas, Vindana Munasinghe, First Secretary of the Embassy, and Principal Dr. Rukshan Razak, Deputy-Principal Shakeel Ismath, Ms Shakunthala Account Executive, Senior Teacher Ms Shiraziya Cassim of SLISR, participated.
