KATARAGAMA : The Ruhunu Maha Kataragama Devalaya has decided to auction about 70 percent of its stored gold items to support the ‘Rebuilding Sri Lanka’ Fund.
The Basnayake Nilame stated that gold items bearing images of deities will be excluded.
The auction will be conducted under the supervision of the National Gem and Jewellery Authority.
He noted that only gold offerings made by devotees in recent years will be transferred through a transparent process.
