Justice Minister holds discussions on United Nations Sustainable Development Goals with concerned officials

COLOMBO : The Ministry of Justice held a round-table discussion on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Index 16, “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions”, under the chairmanship of Justice Minister Ali Sabry at the ministry on Wednesday

Under the Goal 16 of Agenda 2030 introduced that the threats of international homicide, violence against children, human trafficking and sexual violence are important to address to promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development.

M.M.P.K. Mayadunne, Secretary to the Ministry of Justice and Mrs. Chamindri Saparamadu, Director General of the Sustainable Development Council and officials of various government institutions were present on this occasion.

Under the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Index 16, “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions” aims to create a peaceful and holistic society for sustainable development, to provide full opportunities for justice and to build holistic institutions in Sri Lanka with effective accountability at all levels

Under the concept of ‘Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions’, the development of future programs relevant to the judiciary, the formulation and coordination of a mechanism for the realization of the criteria for sustainable development, the formulation of the necessary legislation and legislation to obtain an integrated approach to sustainable development were discussed .
