Jamiyyathul Ulama blamed for releasing a book that triggers disharmony

COLOMBO : The Supreme Council of Sufi Thareeqas, SCST, has said here on Wednesday,Feb.9  that the recent book on ‘Serendib Kanda Sandrorgal’ released by All-Ceylon Jamiyyathl Ulama will flame disharmony and its contents will invite mustrust.

In a letter addressed to the President of the All-Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama, the SCST President Dr. A.L.A Rishi said : “ We are surprised to find a responsible organization as yours, to have released a Publication bearing an author who was known to propagate ideologist and extreme views during his lifetime. Moreover, the said book has serious errors in its contents. These errors will certainly bring our community, which is already fragmented to a greater sectarian chasm.

We firmly believe that this book will flame disharmony, as the contents of it invite mistrust. This is certainly not a book that promotes Tolerance and Compassion, but wreaks confusion and divisive thoughts among the community. We would like to bring to your notice that some of the contents of this book has hurt the mureeds and muhibbeen of the Sheikhs mentioned in the book. This is certainly not the manner in which ACJU should take a lead with such a publicatio

We would like to site a few examples of such dubious and damaging statements from the book  “Serandip Kanda Sandrorgal” written by Late MMA Mubarak released by ACJU on 30/01/2022.

  1. Ash-sheikh Muhammad Thassim Ibn Usman Lebbe who was the past president of Sri Lanka Jamathe Islami and also served as the President of ACJU was an admirer of

Seyed Quthub. He is amongst the very few who met him in Jail. (Page 103)

We completely disagree with it and assure that there is no truth in it, as in the books that Sufi Hazrath authored, it is clearly mentioned of his disapproval towards the Thableeq Jamath. His firm belief is portrayed that the Thableeq Jamaath founders were followers of the creed of Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab of Najd, and Thableeq Jamaath is the gateway towards Wahhabism and religious extremism.

We found many more contents in dispute in the book. As such, we kindly request ACJU to immediately halt this book from distribution as it can ignite protests and negative sentiments among the community.

Given the malicious launch of such a publication, it is imperative that ACJU takes onus to ensure this book is withdrawn from the public. While the persons responsible for initiating such miscreant and blasphemous books also need to be taken to task. They should be held responsible for the release of such weakly researched books of a deceased person who was factually fouled in his writings and interpretations.”
