Islamic New Year celebrations  at Wattala Abu Hurairah Arabic College in Roseville Garden

COLOMBO: The Islamic New Year Hijri 1444 celebration was held at Wattala Abu Hurairah Arabic College in Roseville Garden.

To mark the New Year,Free Dry Rations were distributed to 50 Widow Families which was sponsored by Mihlar Fausudeen and Mrs Firaza Mohideen. This couple also volunteered to set up Computer Unit by donating two Desktop Computers to commence IT knowledge for Madrasa students following Hiflul Quran and Al Alim courses. The computer unit was upgraded with a further donation of 3 more Desktop Computers by this couple.

Speaking at this event the Founder of Abu Hurairah Arabic College M S Aroos Moulavi praised Almighty Allah and stated that he started the Madrasa in small scale at a rented places for couple years in Hunupitiya Wattala and today the Madrasa with 2 storeyed  is built in it’s own property. He thanked everyone who supported the growth of the Madrasa.

Moulavi Mohamed Hisham Mohamed Buhari, the Principal of the Madrasa and President of Moon sighting Hilal Commiitee in his address stated that over 25 Hiflul Quran Students have completed memorizing the 30 volume Quran and 12 students have completed Al-Alim course.

The following students who completed the Al Alim course and the Hiflul Quran in this month were honoured.

The most  touching happening in this event was that a guest Mansoor Haji who witnessed the event promptly volunteered to distribute Rs 500/- each to 50 Widows who came to collect dry rations.

The coordinating efforts of this program with the Donors, the officials of the  Madrasa and Selections of deserving widow families were processed  by M I M Rezwie former Trustee of Masjidul Firdous Jummah Mosque at Roseville and Masjidul Ayesha at Enderamulla

T J  Packeerally, the president of the Zakath and Sadaka committee at Masjidul Firdous Jummah Mosque proposed the vote of thanks and the event concluded with the recitation of Salawaath.
