COLOMBO — Iran Cultural Director Ali Kebriaei Zadeh paid a courtesy call on Minister of Women and Child Affairs Saroja Savithri Paulraj at her Ministry on Friday April 10.
During the meeting, the Iran Counselor noted that the Iran Cultural Center in Sri Lanka has been active for nearly 40 years, fostering strong and friendly relations between the two countries. He warmly remarked on the kindness of Sri Lankan people, stating that visitors feel this hospitality from the moment they arrive at the airport. He also highlighted that Sri Lanka is well-known in Iran, with strong cultural and trade connections between the two nations.
The Counselor proposed enhanced collaboration between Iran and Sri Lanka, particularly in empowering women through cinema and the arts. He emphasized that the Iran Cultural Center is ready to work closely with the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs to further develop cultural and artistic initiatives. He also briefed the Minister on Iran’s achievements in cinema, arts, and cultural programs.
Minister Paulraj expressed her gratitude to the Government of Iran for its support to Sri Lanka during challenging times. She also recalled past cooperation, including Iran’s continued purchase of Sri Lankan tea. The Minister outlined the ongoing work of her Ministry in supporting women and children and appreciated the Counselor’s visit. She further praised Iran’s rich heritage in architecture, cinema, and the arts.
The discussion also focused on strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. At the conclusion of the meeting, Counselor Zadeh presented gift packs to the Minister, while Minister Paulraj offered Sri Lankan tea as a gesture of goodwill.
