COLOMBO – The Iran Cultural Centre of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sri Lanka held a Milad-un-Nabi celebration marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) at the Iran Cultural Centre on Friday, August 28.
The event was held under the patronage of the Cultural Counsellor of the Iran Cultural Centre, Ali Kebriaei Zadeh.
Addressing the gathering, Iranian spiritual scholar Hojjathul Islam Ayatullah Khathampoor stressed the importance of unity among the Muslim community and Muslim countries. He called on Muslims to follow the example set by the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and to live in peace and harmony with people of other communities.
He also expressed his gratitude to the people of Sri Lanka for the assistance extended to Iran during a critical situation and offered prayers for the peace, prosperity and well-being of Sri Lanka and its people.
Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Alireza Delkosh, senior officials of the Embassy of Iran, teachers, students and a large number of invitees attended the ceremony.
The Muslim Choral Ensemble of Sri Lanka also presented a Qaseeda in praise of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) during the celebration.
