COLOMBO : The Cultural Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran had organised the 37th commemoration ceremony of the demise of great leader of the Iran Revolution Imam Khomeini at the Sri Lanka Film Corporation ” Tharangani ” Hall on Thursday June 4.
Ali Kebriaei Zadeh, Cultural Counsellor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran delivered the welcome address about Imam Khomeini’s life and his contribution to Iran. He thanked Al Mustafa University for their cooperation and support.
Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Maldives Dr. Ali Reza Delkhosh addressed the gathering under the title “The Justice of Imam Ali (AS) and the Characteristics of an Ideal Government in the Thought of Imam Khomeini (RA)” .
The 1979 Islamic Revolution of Iran was not a simple political change or a mere displacement of power; rather; it was a fundamental transformation aimed at the absolute rejection of both ” domination” and ” submission to domination ” on the international stage. The revolution loudly proclaimed to the world that the Iranian nation would neither oppress anyone nor bow to the oppression and arrogance of any power.
He also said today, the world faces the ominous, destructive, and ruthless consequences of the system of domination in our region and globally more than ever before. At present, the United States and the Zionist regime, along with some of their allies , are engaged in boundless atrocities, destruction, assassination, and bloodshed in the region. What is happening today in Iran, Gaza, Lebanon, and the entire region stands as clear and shocking evidence of the moral collapse of those powers who,, by trampling upon all international laws, human rights declrations and the Geneva Convention, are fueling flagrant genocide, infanticide and state terrorism. The destabilizing frenzied, and aggressive actions of this oppressive front have endangered not only regional peace but also global security at large. Midst all this, the Islamic Republic of Iran is proud to have always stood at the forefront of countering these conspiracies, repelling the threat of terrorism, and defending the oppressed.
Former Ambassador A. M. J. Sadiq said : ” The Ghadīr Khumm, which is a place between Makkah and Madinah, where the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) delivered a sermon to his followers about the important matter of his succession, on the return journey from his Farewell Pilgrimage. This is an occasion that holds immense spiritual significance for Shia Muslims around the world.
The other event that we are gathered here to commemorate is the 37th death anniversary of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the Founder and Spiritual Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini. I propose to confine myself to speak on the life and the pivotal role of Imam Khomeini, as the guiding light of the Islamic Revolution of 1979 in Iran and his enduring legacy.”
Hashimi Foundation President and Islamic scholar Ash Sheik Lafir Madani also addressed the gathering. The event was attended by a large number of participants, including religious leaders, media personnel, and embassy officials. A video presentation on Imam Khomeini was screened, while a Qaseeda presentation by Ahmed Zubair was also featured as part of the program.
The programme was compered by senior journalist Ameen Izzadeen.
