TEHRAN : Iran has officially announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and warned that naval vessels attempting to pass through the strait will be targeted.
The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the world’s most critical maritime routes, serving as a key channel for global oil transportation. Analysts caution that its closure could significantly disrupt international energy supplies and trigger major impacts on global financial and commodity markets.
The move reportedly follows the assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, an incident that has sharply escalated tensions in the region.
According to foreign media reports, Iranian armed forces are continuing retaliatory attacks aimed at the United States and Israel.
Security analysts warn that the situation in the Middle East could deteriorate further in the coming days, raising concerns over broader regional instability and its potential global consequences.
