
BANGALORE : Charu Sharma took the podium as the auctioneer for the rest of the day after Auctioneer Hugh Edmeades collapsed while the bidding process was underway for Hasaranga. No further bids were recorded after resuming the Auction at IST 3.45 pm today. Hasaranga was sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for 10.75 crore which is a record fee for a Sri Lankan player (approx. LKR 288 million). Hasaranga played for RCB last season. The 24-year-old Hasaranga has been in his best form in recent years and is ranked No.1 in the ICC T20I bowling rankings.
In the wicket keeper/batsman category, Rayudu was picked up by CSK for INR 6.75 crores. Ishan Kishan was the most sought after with Mumbai Indians (MI) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) locking horns and escalating the bid at wind speed. MI sealed Ishan Kishan for 15.75 crores and he becomes the most expensive player of the IPL 2022 till now. England’s Bairstow, a stunning batsman and wicket keeper was sold to Punjab Kings for INR 6.75 crore. CSK and RCB went head on in bidding for Dinesh Karthik while RCB picked him up for INR 5.5 crore.
Nicholas Pooran was picked up by Sun Risers Hyderabad for INR 10.75 crore after fierce bidding war with CSK and KKR. Hasaranga and Pooran are the most expensive foreign players up to now in this IPL 2022 auction.
