IPL 2021: 55th match – Mumbai Indians brave to win by 42 runs but not good enough for play off

ABU DHABI: Mumbai Indians (MI) managed to win by massive margin of 42 runs but yet was not good enough to enter the play offs due to the net run rate. The Sun Risers Hyderabad (SRH) batting well to hold ground frustrated MI by reaching193 for 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Mumbai Indians (MI) needing a massive win with over 170 runs margin initiated the batting spree with swashbuckling batting from Ishan Kishan with 84 runs off 32 balls. Suryakumar Yadav joined the batting party with 82 runs off 40 balls. MI ended up reaching 235 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.  It was indeed a brave batting effort by the Mumbai Indians.

Manish Pandey of SRH with 69 not out batted well till the end but did not have enough support to finish with win. Openers Jason Roy (34 runs) and A Sharma (33 runs) also contributed to SRH’s score. However MI’s 230 plus score was always a bit too much to swallow for the Sun Risers.

MI finished at 5th place at the end of the group matches while SRH finished last.
