COLOMBO – International Volunteers Day 2022 was held at the Light House Auditorium and Lawns, Colombo on Wednesday, December 7. It was organized by the Citizens, a youth led movement .
Welcome address was delivered by the Founder and Director of Citizens Mahees Ahamed.
The chief guest UNICEF Representative in Sri Lanka Christian Skoog delivered his speech on “ Solidarity through Volunteerism” and guest of honor UNV Sri Lanka Project Manager Dr. Sam Stembo delivered his speech on “ Impact of Volunteerism influencing Sri Lanka’s ongoing crisis “
The official Site of Citizens and the Erasmus Worldwide Report was launched at this event.
A token of appreciation was presented to the members of the Citizens Committee at this ceremony.
Head of Orphan Care Azad Zaheed introduced the Orphan Care Project at this ceremony and the Orphan Care was awarded “ The Citizens Social Responsibility Award 2022 ” for their humanitarian service towards Orphans in Sri Lanka.
Director of Citizens Mahees Ahamed presented mementos to the chief guest and guest of honor.
Secretary of Citizens Harendra Koralage delivered the vote of thanks and a large number of invitees were present.
