COLOMBO : Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who was sworn in as the 9th Executive President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, was greeted by the Inter Religious Leaders of the National Interfaith Clergy Fellowship, Ven. Dr. Nishan Sampath Cooray They have expressed their sincere congratulations.
Leading a country is no easy task President Anura Kumara Dissanayake believes that his leadership will bring much deeper peace, coexistence, religious harmony, economic progress and stability to Sri Lanka and the challenges facing the President are significant. Hopefully they will reflect on the lessons of the past, both the successes and failures of those in power before them.
A real challenge History has shown us that the real challenge is not to win elections, but to govern wisely and be true to the needs of the people.
Winners of past elections have neglected their promises and missed the opportunity to bring about real change. But President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and his government have learned from the mistakes of the past to ensure transparency, integrity and national unity.
