Indo-Lanka Passenger ferry service set to commence on Saturday Oct.14

COLOMBO  – The passenger ferry service between India and Sri Lanka is to begin from Saturday,Oct. 14.
 
Secretary of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Aviation K.D.S. Ruwanchandra said that it is being implemented according to a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two countries.

He said that accordingly, a ferry carrying 100 passengers would arrive from Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu to Kankesanturai in Sri Lanka.

It takes about four hours to sail from Nagapattinam to the Kankesanturai Port.

A fee of Rs. 26,750 will be charged per trip.

A fee of Rs. 53,500 will be charged for a ride to and from India.

Each passenger is permitted to carry luggage weighing a maximum of 50kg.
