Indian Premier League (IPL) Auction commences in Bangalore – Iyer most expensive up to now

Shreyas Iyer – most expensive bid up to now – 12.25 crore

BANGALORE :The chairman of the IPL governing council, Brijesh Patel declared open the auction with 600 cricketers on the list and 10 IPL teams including the two new franchises Lucknow supergiants and Gujarat Titans participating in the auction.

The title sponsor for IPL this year would be the Tata group. The first bid for the day was Shikar Dhawan who was picked up by Punjab kings for INR 8.25 crores. Shreyas Iyer as expected was the most sought out by the teams and was sold to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for INR12.25 crores. South African pacer Kagiso Rabada was sold to Punjab Kings for INR 9.25 crores.

9 players were sold in the auction up to now. The base price for all below players was INR 2 crore. The below prices are in INR.

Shreyas Iyer (Kolkata Knight Riders): 12.25 crore

Kagiso Rabada (Punjab Kings): 9.25 crore

Shikhar Dhawan (Punjab Kings): 8.25 crore

Trent Boult (Rajasthan Royals): 8 crore

Pat Cummins (Kolkata Knight Riders): 7.25 crore

Faf du Plessis (Royal Challengers Bangalore): 7 crore

Quinton de Kock (Lucknow Supergiants): 6.75 crore

David Warner (Delhi Capitals): 6.25 crore

Mohammed Shami (Gujarat Titans): 6.25 crore

R Ashwin (Rajasthan Royals): 5 crore
