COLOMBO : The Indian high commission in Colombo headed by High Commissioner Santos Jha hosted an iftar reception to diplomats , senior government. officials , parliamentarians , and community members at the ITC Hotel on Tuesday, February 24.
Jha delivered the welcome address and stressed the significance of the Indo-Lanka relations and its unity and understanding in their bilateral relations .
Deputy Speaker Dr Rizvi Salih who was the chief guest during the well-attended event said
that India stands as one of the world’s greatest examples of pluralism — a civilization where many faiths, languages and traditions — at times standing out distinctly, at times blending harmoniously — coexist under one constitutional roof.
“ As such , an Iftar hosted by the High Commission of India in Sri Lanka carries symbolism that goes beyond ceremony.
It reflects shared civilizational values — respect for diversity…
tolerance… and coexistence.”
