India champions in cricket , Saudi Arabia tops in football at the Diplomatic Tournament

COLOMBO – India became the champions in cricket ,while Saudi Arabia became the champions in football in the tournament organized by the Diplomatic Sports Club Umagiliya Grounds, Kolonnawa on Sunday November 2.

This tournament was organised under the patronage of diplomatic Sports Club with Chairman Saleem Siraj and his team members.

The event brought together ambassadors, counselors, senior embassy staff, and secretaries from various diplomatic missions, along with officials from the event’s main sponsor, Mitsubishi Motors.

Teams from Saudi Arabia, India, the United Kingdom, UAE, Kuwait, Switzerland, Oman, Canada, South Africa, Australia, the Maldives, and Qatar participated in the tournament.

International organizations such as the ICRC, UNOPS, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the United Nations also fielded teams, showcasing the spirit of global unity through sport.

The Football semi-finals between the British Council, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and India and the Cricket semi-finals between British Council, UAE, India and UN teams.

In the Cricket Finals , India beat UN for 8 runs and Soccer Final Saudi Arabia beat India 3 – 1. goals. Captain of the Cricket team India Ram Babu and Captain of the Soccer team Captain Saudi Arabia Hamud Al Subaie received champion trophies from Expo Leisure Cluster Director and CCO Sabry Bahaudeen and JJ Foundation Dr. I.Y.M. Haniff at the end. of. the tournament.
