Imran Khan to face No-Confidence motion on Saturday

COLOMBO: The Pakistan Supreme Court on Thursday said National Assembly deputy speaker Qasim Suri’s ruling to dismiss a no-confidence motion against embattled Prime Minister Imran Khan was wrong. 

Pakistan’s Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial said the controversial ruling is, prima facie, a violation of Article 95 of the Constitution as he said the court will issue a decision in the high-profile.

Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari hailed the Supreme Court verdict on dissolution of National Assembly as null and void, stating, “Democracy is the best revenge!”

In a major win for the Pakistan Opposition leaders, embattled Prime Minister Imran Khan will face the no-confidence motion against him on Saturday at 10:30 IST, ahead of the the National Assembly session that will be convened on the same day. The Pakistan Supreme Court in its verdict on the legality of dissolution of Assembly on April 3 overturned the Deputy Speaker’s ruling as “unconstitutional.” (DM)
