
COLOMBO: Some 24,000 kgs of imported Chinese apples were dumped in the Dehiwala Zoo on Friday 10 for the consumption of the inmates since the importer failed to clear from the Sri Lanka Customs.
According to the Ministry of Ports & Shipping the apples were imported to Sri Lanka in February 2022, however, was not cleared by the importer from the Colombo Port.
Around 100,000 apples valued at Rs. 20 Million were handed over to the Dehiwala Zoo in the presence of Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva.(News First)
