NAJMUL HUSSAIN – Senior artiste of the Muslim Service of SLBC, M.S.M. Jinnah, is set to launch his book titled Ilangai Vanoli Muslim Sevaiyin Paaramparyam on April 27, at the Duncan White Auditorium, Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, Colombo 7.
The book is a culmination of Jinnah’s long-running interview programme Paaramparyam, which is being m aired fortnightly over the last seven years on the Muslim Service of SLBC. Through the series, he documented interviews with senior artistes and key contributors to the Muslim Service, while also reviving the memories of those who served the institution and are no longer with us.
Importantly, the programme also served as a historical record, exploring the evolution and heritage of the Muslim Service in Sri Lanka. This wealth of information has now been compiled into a comprehensive publication.
The launch event will be organized under the auspices of the Sri Lanka Islamic Arts and Literary Foundation. The foundation’s President, Thamil Thendral Ali Akbar, will preside over the ceremony, while the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), Prof. Uditha Gayashan Gunasekara, will grace the event as Chief Guest.
Alhaj W.M.M.S.M. Kamaldeen, Chairman of Sapumal Industries, will receive the first copy of the book.
Mrs. Fathima Rinoosiya (Director, Muslim Service), Hafiz S.M. Haniffa (former Director, Muslim Service), T. Senthil Velavar (Chief Editor, Thinakaran), veteran broadcaster B.H. Abdul Hameed, Mayuri Abeysinghe (former Deputy Director General, (Programme)SLBC), Dr. M.S.M. Anes (Former Head , Dept. of Philosophy, University of Peradeniya, Dr. Rameez Abdullah (Chair and Professor, South Eastern University), Trizviiy Marikkar (Principal, Zahira College), Alhaj N.M. Ameen (President, Muslim Media Forum), and Mohammed Rasooldeen (Editor-in-Chief, Colombo Times) and many more dignitaries will grace the occasion.
The book will be reviewed by Dr. M.C. Rasmin (PhD). Rasheed M. Imthiyaz, Attorney at Law will recite a poem. Ruzaika Jinnah Irshad will deliver the vote of thanks, while Ahamed M. Nazeer and Shamil Akbar will compere the event.
