IDM Nations Campus Celebrates 17th Convocation — Over 750 Graduates Honoured

The ceremony began with the traditional academic procession led by Eng. (Dr.) Lionel Pinto, President of IDM Nations Campus International, was followed by the distinguished academic staff, guests, and graduates. The Convocation Declaration by Dr Pinto formally marked the commencement of this memorable occasion.

In his introductory address, Dr V. Janagan, Chairman and CEO of IDM Nations Campus International, reflected on the institution’s journey spanning over four decades in transforming higher education in Sri Lanka. He highlighted IDM’s enduring mission of fostering innovation, global collaboration, and ethical leadership among students, enabling them to excel in a rapidly evolving world.

The Convocation Address was delivered by Senior Prof. Rohana P. Mahaliyanaarachchi, who urged graduates to lead with compassion, integrity, and a vision that contributes meaningfully to the nation’s progress.

A historic milestone was achieved at this year’s Convocation, as fourteen PhD scholars were conferred with Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) awards in Law, marking the first time in IDM Nations Campus history that such a significant number of doctoral degrees were awarded in a single discipline. This remarkable academic achievement reflects IDM’s growing contribution to advanced legal education and research excellence in Sri Lanka, strengthening its position as a leading transnational higher education institution.

The event was graced by several distinguished guests including H.E. Dewi Gustina Tobing, Ambassador of Indonesia; H.E. Badli Hisham Adam, High Commissioner of Malaysia (represented by Mr. Khairul Iskandar Md. Yusof); and representatives from IDM’s international partner universities and institutions, including EdHat International (UK), Girne American University (Cyprus), and the University of Delhi (India). Their participation reaffirmed IDM’s strong global partnerships and commitment to transnational education.

A significant highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Emirates Professor Dayantha S. Wijeyesekara Memorial Scholarship by Ven. (Dr.) Kirinde Assaji, Chief Incumbent of the Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo, to Dr V. Janagan, Chairman of IDM Nations Campus International. The scholarship fund will be distributed among needy students pursuing vocational education, supporting IDM’s commitment to widening access to learning opportunities for all.
