
MUSCAT: Round 1 match: Scotland record their second win today with a healthy run rate against Papua New Guinea (PNG).
Scotland winning the toss chose to bat first. Scintillating batting by Berrington who scored 70 runs off 49 balls saw Scotland setting a target of 165 for 9 wickets off the 20 overs. Kabua Morea of PNG bowled well to pick a 4-wicket haul for 31 runs. PNG managed to get six wickets in the last 2 overs freezing the Scottish run flow to an extent.
The Scotland bowlers manage to demolish the PNG top order and had PNG hanging at 35 for 5 wickets in the 6th over of the innings.
Sese Bau managed to take control and to save embarrassment for PNG by scoring 24 off 23 balls and was supported by Norman Vanua who went on to make 47runs off 37 balls.
The lower end of the PNG batting showed resilience to score 148 before being all out in the 19.3 overs. Scotland won by 17 runs.
