ICC Men’s T20 WC: Match 42 – Super 12 matches ends – India wins against Namibia but exits from the tournament

DUBAI: Super 12s – The last match of the Super 12s got underway between India and Namibia. India won comprehensively by 9 wickets after restricting Namibia to 132 runs for 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. This would also be the end of Virat Kohli’s tenure as skipper. Rahul Dravid would be replacing Ravi Shashtri as the coach of the Indian team.
Although India won its last 3 matches against Afghanistan, Scotland and now Namibia, India remains only at the 3rd position with 6 points and will exit the tournament from the Super 12s.
Earlier, Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin surprised the Namibian batsman with their spin attack both picking up three wickets each. Wickets kept falling in regular intervals, David Wiese with a knock of 26 runs at the middle order supported Nabimia to reach 132 runs.
The Indian openers had another successful run where Rohit Sharma (56 runs) and KL Rahul (54 runs) both reached half centuries. India reached 133 runs in the 15th over to win convincingly by 9 wickets.
India were favorites when the tournament started to win this world cup however with losses to Pakistan and New Zealand in the early stages, India could never recover to come to the top 2 teams in Group 2.
