
DUBAI: Super 12s – Australia bundled up Bangladesh for a mere 73 runs and chased it down in quick time to move up the points table to No.2 position. Bangladesh concluded its final match in the Super 12s with no wins after showing promise in the Round 1 games.
Adam Zampa demonstrated destructive leg spin to pick up 5 wickets for 19 runs and also record the best bowling figures in this tournament.
Australia won the toss and invited Bangladesh to bat first. However, only three batsmen were able to make it to double figures. The Bangladesh batting has let them down badly in the last few matches. Australia chased the score down in 6.2 overs (78/2) with Captain Finch 40 runs off 20 balls to take advantage Net run rate boost. Australia won by 8 wickets.
Post this win, Australia pushed South Africa down to 3rd position in the Group 1 points table and now is in a much healthier position to qualify for the semi finals with the improved run rate. Australia will face West Indies in their last encounter and South Africa will face England. Both these matches are scheduled for coming Saturday.
