
ABU DHABI: Super 12s – Nambia continue their good form after beating Ireland in the Round 1 games by restricting Scotland to 109 for 8 wickets and chasing the score down convincingly by scoring 115 for 6 wickets (in 19.1 overs). J J Smit scored 32 runs not out to guide Namibia to a win in a low scoring match.
Winning the toss Nambia bowlers justified their decision to bowl first, especially Ruben Trumpelmann who trampled over the Scottish batting in the first over by taking 3 wickets. Scotland were 3 down for 2 runs after the first over. He was ably supported by Frylinck who bowled his 4 overs for only 10 runs and picked up 2 wickets.
Although Nambia were cautious in chasing the low score after a few hiccups they reached the Scotland total convincingly.
Nambia now stands at the 3rd position in Group 2 points table with Pakistan and Afghanistan in the first two positions. India, New Zealand and Scotland are yet to score any points.
Ruben Trumpelmann was named the player of the match for his lethal bowling spell of 3 for 17 runs off 4 overs. (RZ)
