DUBAI: Super 12s – West Indies and South Africa after losses in their opening Group 1 matches were on the lookout for a win. South Africa won convincingly against the defending champions, West Indies by 8 wickets to collect their first 2 points in the Super 12s.
Batting first, West Indies score 143 for 8 wickets off 20 overs. Evin Lewis batter brilliantly for 56 off 35 balls to set the stage for a higher score. However fall of 4 wickets ( Russell, Hethmeyer,Pollard and Walsh) for mere 5 runs in the last 2 overs meant WI has to be satisfied with only 143.

Dussen and Aiden Markram (51 not out off 26 balls) guided South Africa to a win by 8 wickets with 10 balls left to grab their 2 points.
South Africa with 2 points stands at 4th place in the Group 1 points table while England , Sri Lanka and Australia are at the top 3 positions respectively (based on Net Run Rate).
Anrich Nortje was named the player of the match for his economical bowling spell of 1 for 14 off 4 overs. (RZ)
