ICC Men’s T20 WC: Match 17 – Afghanistan dismantle Scotland for 60 runs to win by massive 130 runs

SHARJAH: Super 12s – Afghanistan’s brilliance in bat and ball allowed them to secure a win by 130 runs against Scotland who were bowled out in the 10th over for mere 60 runs. Mujeeb Ur Rahman picked up a 5 wickets haul for 29 runs while Spin wizard Rashid Khan picked up 4 wickets for just 9 runs off 2.2 overs.

Afghanistan batting first demonstrated power hitting to reach 190 runs in 20 overs for the loss of four wickets. Openers Zazai (44 runs) and Shahzad (22 runs) put together a fast 50 runs in the first 5 overs.The middle order batsman Gurbaz (46 runs) and Zadran paced the innings well. Zadran’s 59 runs off 34 balls helped Afghanistan to reach 190 runs.

None of the Scotland batsmen could withstand the Afghanistan bowling attack and succumb to 60 runs. Rahman took the top Scottinsh batsmen out while Rashid Khan cleared the tail. Afghanistan won by 130 runs, the largest margin for Afghanistan in a T20 international.

Afghanistan now tops Group 2 points table with a net run rate of 6.5 while Pakistan is in the 2nd position.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman was named the player of the match for picking up the wickets of the key Scottish batsmen. (RZ)
