
MALE :The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Maldives held an Iftar on Tuesday 03 March 2026 at Hotel Manhattan Malé with the participation of members of the Sri Lankan community, and Maldivian government and business dignitaries including the Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage Adam Naseer Ibrahim, Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu, Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts Ibrahim Waheed and Chairman of Sun Siyam Resorts and Member of Parliament Ahmed Siyam Mohamed.
The event commenced with the recitation of Holy Quran by Mr. Ukasha Mohamed ijas. Arafath Moulavi spoke on the significance of the month of Ramadan and Call for prayers (Azan) was conducted by Ijaz Moulavi.
Addressing the gathering, High Commissioner Mohamed Rizvi Hassen stated that the sacred month of Ramadan gives us the opportunity to pause and reflect on our responsibilities towards families, communities, and the nation. He also highlighted that iftar is not only about breaking fast together; it is about strengthening friendships, reinforcing partnerships, and celebrating the spirit of togetherness that defines us.
A blend of Sri Lankan and Maldivian cuisine was served to the invitees.
