COLOMBO : Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts today (03), the Department of Meteorology stated.
Accordingly, heavy rainfalls of about 100 mm are likely at some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.
Strong winds of about 40-50kmph can also be expected at times across the island.
Meanwhile, the general public has been urged to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
