COLOMBO: President Ranil Wickremesinghe will inaugurate the new Hanthana International Bird Park and Recreation Centre, Kandy on February 20, which will be opened to the public from February 23.
According to the park’s chairman, Nishantha Kottegoda the park consists of birds endemic to foreign countries, migratory birds, with a unit that treats and releases injured birds. He added that the birds are housed in large cages with around 100 employees to take care of them.
Costing LKR 490 million, the 27-acre exotic bird park and eco-tourism zone is home to over a hundred species of exotic birds and is located adjacent to the Hanthana Tea Museum.
