Hameedians Cricket Carnival in Colombo

COLOMBO : The Past Prefects’ Guild of Hameed Al Husseinie College proudly hosted the Jersey Launch & Media Briefing of the much‑anticipated Hameedian’s Cricket Carnival – Season 7, on 12th July 2026 at the Dewdrop Hotel, Wellampitiya.

The tournament, featuring teams comprised of past pupils of the College, will be held on 19th July 2026 at the Sri Lanka Land Development Corporation (SLLDC) Cricket Ground, Kirimandala Mawatha, Colombo 05.

The Carnival is powered by TruRout as the Title Sponsor, alongside distinguished sponsors in the categories of Platinum, Legacy, Gold, and Silver. Strategic partnerships include Hospitality and Clothing sectors.

In recognition of their invaluable support, all sponsors were honored with a Token of Appreciation, while team captains received a Memento symbolizing leadership and commitment.

The proceedings commenced with a Welcome Address by Hijaas Mohamed (Secretary, Past Prefects’ Guild), followed by Guest Speeches from the Principal Mrs. Shania Dain and the OBA Secretary Imtiaz Illiyaz. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Project Chairman HB Athif.

A special Presentation was made to brief the audience on the initiatives carried out by the Past Prefects’ Guild to support and uplift the Board of Prefects of the College. It was emphasized that all revenues generated through the tournament are dedicated to these developmental activities, reinforcing the Guild’s commitment to nurturing student leadership.

During her address, Principal Mrs. Shania Dain commended the service rendered by the Past Prefects’ Guild, particularly for its role in strengthening discipline within the school and fostering a culture of responsibility among students.

Meanwhile, OBA Secretary Mr. Imtiaz Illiyaz highlighted the importance of all affiliated bodies being active and united in their efforts to support the school. He stressed that collective engagement is vital to uplift the institution’s standards in education and other aspects of student

The Carnival is spearheaded by the Past Prefects’ Guild, under the leadership of Q. M. M Hiraaz (President) and Hijaas Mohamed (Secretary), with H. B Athif serving as Tournament Chairman along with Members of the Committee.
