Half way Point : IIGJ Special training for Sri Lankans in Jaipur

JAIPUR : A group of 20 Profesionals from the Gem industry of Sri Lanka were selected to receive an intensive boot camp on the art of gem faceting and polishing.

The workshops were sponsored under the patronage of the Ministry of external affairs, government of India. WIth the effort of The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) Jaipur regional office executed the training program.

The training partner IIGJ Jaipur the Indian Institute of Gems and Jewellery Jaipur have taken a keen interest and pooled their best resources to ensure that the hands on learning experience provided is of the highest standard. They have kept an excellent expert lecturing panel available at all times to guide the students. We Thank the Dean Mr. Anish Kapil and team for their efforts.

The art of fashioning precious stones has a myriad of methods and during the classes this December we were taught the Jamp Peg technique on a variety of cuts ranging from brilliant, marquise, cushion to even trillion, octagon and hexagon. Credit is due to Mr. Amit the lead Faceting instructor and his team.

Jaipur is a fascinating city with a rich cultural heritage of the kigdoms of Rajasthan to complement its place in the world as a Gem capital. We hope that this excursion is only the stepping stone for many more innitiatives and are looking forward to collaborating in the future with Mr. Abhishek from The Indian High Commision and Mrs. Ayoma from the NGJA Sri Lanka, two individuals who helped facilitate this international training program.
