BADULLA: United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (UNFAO), the Department of Agriculture and UVA Provincial Department of Agriculture launched a program aimed at promoting Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
This event took place at the Bogahakumbura area of Welimada recently under the patronage of UVA Province Governor A. J. M. Muzammil.
This program focuses on enhancing food safety and facilitating the sale of agricultural products by farmers involved in commercial crop cultivation. The central goal is to ensure the production of high-quality agricultural goods.
As part of this initiative, the farmers were provided with essential resources to facilitate their adoption of Good Agricultural Practices. These resources included polythene bags, sprinkler water supply kits, and gear for insect-resistant cover nets value of rupees 45,000.
Also GAP Certificates were distributed 200 farmers achieved as the programme in the UVA province at this ceremony.
