General Secretary of the All Ceylon Jamiyathul Ulama,ACJU, Sheikh Arkam Noorahmith leaves Saudi Arabia

COLOMBO: General Secretary of the All Ceylon Jamiyathul Ulama,ACJU, Sheikh Arkam Noorahmith , left Saudi Arabia on Sunday morning from the Jeddah King Abdulaziz Airport on May 31.

Sheikh Noorahmith who ran into a controversy on a complain made by Sadik Hajiar in Makkah, had to meet officials of the ministry of Haj and Umrah and also the. officer in charge of Mina police station for a formal inquiry based on the said complaint.

Sri Lankan ambassador in Riyadh Ameer Ajwad assisted the Sheikh during this situation created on the complain made by Sadik Hajiar.

It was alleged that Sheikh Noorahmith was responsible in stopping the clearance of the consignment of holy qurans lying still in Colombo harbour.

Sadik Hajiar had also complained that Sheikh Noorahmith was in the habit of misinterpreting Islam during his discourses among the Hajj pilgrims in the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah .

Explaining the situation among a group of senior officials of the Sri Lankan Hajj group , the owner of the Ceylon House, Sheikh Sadik, Sri Lankan turned Saudi citizen, on Saturday morning May 30 , denied any misdoings and said the Saudi government does not allow holding meetings without its permission and Sheikh Noorahmith was summoned for that reason for an inquiry by the Saudi authorities

The Saturday morning meeting. was attended by deputy minister Muneer Mulaffer, Hajj Committee Chairman Riaz Mihular , director Muslim Religious and. Cultural Affairs M S M Nawaz and Rizmy Reyal former chairman of Hajj Travel Operators Association .

According to sources , none of these responsible officers who were present at the meeting dared to ask Sadik Hajiar as to why he made a complain against well respected person of Sheikh Noorahmith’s caliber.

Acting Foreign Minister Arun Hemachandra said here that the problem was amicably settled with the Saudi authorities due to the strong bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia .

Ambassador Ajwad personally accompanied Sheikh Noorahmith to the Saudi authorities in Mina which paved the way for a smooth settlement.
