FUEL CRISIS: Diesel cargo will be cleared on Friday- says minister

COLOMBO: The unloading of diesel from the two ships anchored near the Colombo Port will begin  Friday ,March 18, Energy Minister Gamini Lokuge said on Wednesday, March 17.

He said the Government had to pay about US$ 52 million. The Minister said the delay in unloading fuel was not due to a financial issue.

He added that the unloading of diesel from the two ships was delayed due to the unloading of stocks of petrol and fuel oil at Kolonnawa.

Minister Lokuge stated that as a result of the recent distribution problems, action had been taken to send a load each of diesel and petrol to every filling station in Colombo by Wednesday,March 17.
