Free Palestine Movement hosts an interfaith iftar to street workers at Independence Square

COLOMBO — In a novel programme, the Free Palestine Movement organized an interfaith iftar to workers in the streets at Independence Square on Sunday April 7.

The group  held an interfaith iftar last year at Galle Face and this year, they decided to do something different from the traditional iftar receptions. 

The organizers had printed simple invitations and distributed among  beggars, street cleaners and other deserving people working on the roads  to attend the iftar.

Chief incumbent of Isipathanarama Viharaya Ven. Dr. Madampagama Assaji Thero and Colombo East Jamiyahtul Ulama President Ash Sheik A.M.M. Firdhouse addressed  the gathering.

Christian clergy including Member of Parliament A.H.M.Fowzie, Palestine Ambassador Dr. Zuhair M.H. Zaid, Former Deputy Mayor of Colombo M.T.M. Iqbal, former Member of Parliament Shafeek Rajabdeen, Kollupitiya Masjid Federation President Rizan Hussain and members of the all communities were present.
