Former Lankan ambassador to UAE, Nabavi Junaid passes away at 78

COLOMBO : Retired senior civil servant  Mohamed Nabavi Junaid,78. passed away peacefully at his residence in Colombo  on Tuesday morning, August 17, and his funeral took place at the Jawatte Burial Grounds at noon on the same day.

Junaid who was a popular civil servant at the time, has served as secretary to ministry of home affairs and public administration. When Lakshman Kadirgamar was the foreign minister, he was appointed as ambassador to the United Arab Emirates and he was stationed at Abu Dhabi.

He is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter. He was married to the sister of A.J.M.Ismail Farook and Uva Governor A.J.M.Muzammil from Kahawatte.
